Learndirect is a new way of learning. Over 500 courses
are offered for you to choose from, including I.T., Business
Management and even Motor Mechanics. With this much to choose from
things can get confusing. This is where our staff can lend a
hand. Hilary or Tony can help you choose the 
course that suits your needs. They will then enrol you on that
course and away you go. You can learn at your own pace - there
are no classes to attend. You can do 2 hours a week or study
for a whole day.
We have just opened an ESOL centre to help people learn English as another language. If you want to improve your English or even take a refresher course, then call Steve McGee on 01502 562555.
Through learndirect and OCR we can also offer a nationally recognised qualification in numeracy and literacy. These start at level 1 which is equivilent to GCSE grades D-G leading onto the more advanced level 2, obtaining which, you will gain a certificate equivilent to GCSE grades A-C.
The way the learndirect courses are run means that you don't even have to attend the centre all the time. All you need is a computer and a copy of the Fast-Track plugins disk, which we will give you when you enrole on a course. A fast Internet connection is recommended but if you only have dial up, or no Internet at all then most courses are available in an offline format. This means that you can learn at home, here with us or even at a friends house.
At the centre we can offer tutor support if you have any problems
or are unsure about something. In the welcome packs you will find
a card with our opening times and phone number. In addition on this
website you will find a help desk (coming soon) page where you can
post any questions that hopefully we can answer for you. 
The most commonly asked question is 'How much will it cost me?'
In most circumstances the cost to you is zero. All of our
begineer I.T. courses are free, as are the skills for life and
ESOL courses. More specialist courses are available starting from
just £9.99. If you are unemployed then the chances are that
funding is available for you, Aquila will be able to help
you apply.
We can also offer information and guidance. By assessing your needs we can advise you on the right courses and resources to help you get back to work or further your career.
